Preparing your home for sale can be very time-consuming and is usually the most challenging part of selling a home. In the last blog, I talked about the power of curb appeal, but in this blog, I will be covering the importance of the interior of your home.
When prepping your home for sale, be sure everything is visually appealing. You can do a few simple things to make your home perfect.
Fix any holes or cracks in walls. If you usually rearrange everything in your home, then you probably have small nail holes all over your walls from moving things. Patching all these small holes is simple and cheap! You can pull an old can of your living room paint out of the garage, head to Lowe’s, grab some drywall repair putty, and make your walls look brand new!
Another way to greatly impact the visual aesthetic of your home is by scrubbing everything. Sometimes, all a home needs is a scrub down with a rag to make it look new again.
Paint can also play a significant factor in a home sale. If you have a room painted in some wild color, such as orange, while you might love it, a potential buyer might hate the color orange. Simply applying a fresh coat of white paint could reinvent your home’s look. There is a saying, ‘When in doubt, white it out.’ This gives potential buyers a blank canvas to picture anything in that room. Other colors, such as beige and grey, work well as well. Another aspect to look at when painting is if the color makes the room small. You want your room(s) to seem as large as possible.
Old fixtures in the home can also affect a buyer’s opinion of it. If you haven’t updated your leaky kitchen faucet with a broken handle, then this may be the time. Simply replacing old fixtures can make the home seem much more modern and give it a refined look.
Simply following these recommended tips can greatly impact the value of your home and how long it stays on the market.
